National Tree Day

A barbecue in the park is fun way to enjoy the great outdoors in Whitehorse, and those taking part in National Tree Day activities on Sunday 30 July will enjoy a free, celebratory barbie.

Since 2003, Council has participated in Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, planting more than 25,000 native plants and shrubs locally in public land, parks, gardens and reserves.   Planet Ark is inviting Australians to join the country's biggest nature care initiative and community tree planting event by participating in National Tree Day on Sunday 30th July.

The event is a great way to beautify a part of Whitehorse, mix with other community members and enjoy that free barbecue after the work is done! Council staff will be present on National Tree Day to advise participants on how best to plant the grasses, trees and shrubs supplied.

Volunteer an hour or two of your time and  get the opportunity to meet new people, work on a community project and make a difference for future generations as well as enjoy the outdoors.

Planting will take place between 10am and 12 noon and will be followed by a well deserved barbeque.

Entry to reserve is from Kett Street, Nunawading.
