The lack of parking at Maroondah Hospital is a real concern and our local community wants action!
For so long, we have all had to drive around the block so many times or wait until someone exits the multistory carpark to be able to enter it.
The Andrews Labor Government has refused to contribute $10 million dollars to complete this much-needed project. With no funding announced in the 2017/18 budget, the hospital will have to borrow this money, to be repaid with interest, and we all know what that means - an increase in parking fees.
While funding of hospital infrastructure is a State Government responsibility, I am grateful that Michael Sukkar MP has stepped up with the Federal Government providing $2 million in funding toward this much needed project. The additional 350 new parking spaces will cost $12million in total.
For those who are sick, anxious about loved ones or visiting for a period of time, increases to parking fees are just another hit to the hip pocket that people cannot afford. You can join others and sign my petition here:
