Dee Ryall MP, State Member for Ringwood has slammed the Andrews Government for failing those that are sick, and their families in the outer east. Labor has not provided any funding in the budget to address the parking crisis at Maroondah Hospital.
Ms Ryall said “The Coalition committed to $1.2 million in funding to add a further 100 car parking spaces for patients, and families at Maroondah Hospital.” “These parking spaces are needed to accommodate both population growth and our ageing population.” “Both are putting enormous pressure on the demand for parking at the hospital.”
“Maroondah Hospital exists for the purposes of providing health care and those that are sick, and their families need be able to access its services”, Ms Ryall said.
Ms Ryall said that “The former Coalition Government invested $469.5 million in capital works, building the new Box Hill Hospital and re-developing Maroondah Hospital.” “Continued investment is needed to ensure that the number of parking spaces required at Maroondah is consistent with the demand on the hospital.”
Ms Ryall said that “as a former nurse and a local, we all know the anxiety of trying to find a parking space at Maroondah Hospital when there is an emergency, or a loved one is in hospital.”
“The last thing people want to do is circle the block constantly, when someone they care about is sick.”
“Our population is growing and Daniel Andrews must act now”. “To put this off is just reinforcing that Labor does not care about the eastern suburbs.”
