Clean up Australia Day with local Scouts

On Tuesday 3 March, I had the great pleasure of joining the 3rd Ringwood East Scouting Group in the annual Clean up Australia Day.  It was great to join our local scouts and to be reminded of the fantastic ways in which scouts allows children of all ages to learn important life skills.

The Scouts were able to learn a lot about why it is important to keep our communities free of rubbish.  With a mix of Joeys, Cubs and Scouts; we not only had fun, but made sure the park and streets around the scouting and community hall were clean.

This year over 500,000 volunteers have donated their time to collect rubbish and keep Australia clean at 6,165 sites. This includes local parks, waterways, beaches, sporting fields, bushlands and roadways. Clean up Australia Day is important for our environment and our local families.
